first_imgLinkedin THE Restaurants Association of Ireland is pleased to announce the 8th annual Irish Restaurant Awards. The awards help showcase the true talent that Ireland’s hospitality industry has to offer by acknowledging outstanding performers in the sector.The awards have grown steadily since its humble beginnings back in 2009, where just 70 restaurateurs gathered in Dublin for lunch to celebrate each other’s successes. In 2015, online award nominations tripled to nearly 30,000 from 10,000 in 2013. The amount of nominations in 2016 is expected to grow exponentially with the continued support of our media partner, The Irish Times.Sign up for the weekly Limerick Post newsletter Sign Up Last year, the Irish Restaurant Awards consisted of a roadshow of four regional events – Galway, Belfast, Limerick and Dublin – with over 2,000 guests in total. The final event was held in the Doubletree by Hilton Dublin and saw 870+ guests sit down for a five course gala dinner cooked by 5 renowned chefs (previous award winners).Adrian Cummins, Chief Executive of the Restaurants Association commented; “Since 2009, the restaurant awards have gone from strength to strength. Our awards are the only awards in Ireland to have a Mystery Judge element, we can really stand over the entire process. Last year, we received almost 30,000 nominations – this is a testament to the high standards and quality of service that the hospitality industry provides. The restaurant industry is the biggest employer within the Irish tourism sector, employing over 74,000 people and these awards are a celebration and acknowledgement of the hard work put in by restaurateurs year round.”Anthony Gray, President of the Restaurants Association commented; “The Irish Restaurant Awards are renowned in the restaurant sector, they are the awards everyone wants to win. Both of these results are combined and reviewed by an independent auditor (BDO) to give an overall county winner per category. These winners will be announced at a number of regional events held in March.Each county winner then goes forward to the Regional and All-Ireland series whereby they will then each receive a mystery guest inspection. They will be assessed on their menu, customer service, and the overall dining experience from the moment the booking is made until the customer receives the bill. Chase Utley home run provides Dodgers’ only runs in 5-2 loss to White Sox

first_imgTHE GAME:  Chase Utley hit his first home run of the spring but the Dodgers lost 5-2 to the Chicago White Sox Saturday afternoon at Camelback Ranch.PITCHING REPORT:  LHP Hyun-Jin Ryu did not pitch well Saturday. He gave up five runs on six hits and two walks in the first two innings against the White Sox. It was only Ryu’s second Cactus League start. He has a 14.29 ERA in those two starts (nine runs in 5 2/3 innings). … RHP Kenley Jansen threw a perfect inning, his second in Cactus League play. He is scheduled to pitch again Monday and Thursday, going four outs on Thursday, then back-to-back in the first two games of the Freeway Series. … LHP Scott Alexander and RHP J.T. Chargois each pitched a hitless inning as well. In six spring innings, Chargois has been charged with only one run and allowed only two hits while striking out six.HITTING REPORT:  Chase Utley started Cactus League play with just one hit in his first 17 at-bats. He has six hits in his past 14 at-bats after going 1 for 3 Saturday with his first home run this spring. … C Yasmani Grandal was 2 for 2. His 10 for 21 over his past eight games and is batting .313 (10 for 32) for the spring. … Andrew Toles and Trayce Thompson had doubles.DEFENSE REPORT: Utley started at first base Saturday and booted a ground ball in the fourth inning. But he recovered the ball and caught the lead baserunner off third base. He was tagged out in a rundown. An inning later, Utley made a nice play on a hard-hit ground ball to his right and flipped to Jansen for the out at first base. UP NEXT: The Dodgers play two split-squad games Sunday. LHP Clayton Kershaw is scheduled to start against the San Diego Padres (Tyson Ross) at Camelback Ranch, 1 p.m. (SportsNet LA and 570 AM).
