1 West Ham’s Slaven Bilic hopeful Andy Carroll will not be out for more than ‘a couple of weeks’ West Ham manager Slaven Bilic has admitted his disappointment after Andy Carroll limped off in Tuesday’s win over Bournemouth. The Hammers’ comeback victory, which sees them move above Manchester United into fifth in the table, was dampened by yet another injury to striker Carroll. The 27-year-old limped off after just 12 minutes into the 3-1 victory, with a hamstring problem, but Bilic hopes the injury is not too serious.“It is a really bad situation for us,” the West Ham boss said.“After the Liverpool win I said that he is back, he looked sharp, he looked strong and he was covering the whole pitch and terrorising the difference.“So, it is a blow but he has been working really hard. Maybe or hopefully it is not that long. Maybe it is going to be a couple of weeks but we need him.“He is disappointed because he knows he is back but if we have to choose between a knee and hamstring injury it is better to have a hamstring injury.”
1 Shakhtar Donetsk attacking midfielder Alex Teixeira Alex Teixeira has spoken out over his future amid interest from Chelsea and Liverpool – confessing that he wants to move in the January transfer window. On Thursday, reports claimed that Liverpool had opened talks with the £38m-rated Shakhtar Donetsk forward, tabling an opening bid of £24.6m.This news arrived after weeks of speculation that Chelsea were the favourites to clinch his signature this month. And Teixeira himself has now confirmed that an offer has been received and he has informed Shakhtar of his wish to leave the club.Speaking to Brazilian newspaper Globo, the 26-year-old said, “I would like to move in this transfer window and have told them [Shakhtar] that. They have received a very good offer and they are working on a solution.“But if I don’t go now then I will leave in the summer.“After six years in Europe and with Shakhtar, we are ready to move and I have spoken to my wife and daughter.”Teixeira continued: “It is my desire to move to a big league and I know that the English league is very strong. I am ready and I know that I will grow up a lot there.“I am aware that two big clubs such as Liverpool and Chelsea are interested but I haven’t given my word to either of them.“I am not ruling out other leagues but I do want to play in the Premier League.“In my mind, it is the strongest in the world. I want a challenge and to further my career there. My aim is to move to a big club so that I can well there and get a place in the Brazil squad. Everyone knows that it is hard to achieve and I need to leave here to achieve that goal.”

Miller claimed that Dole chose to spray the pesticide rather than injecting it into the soil or mixing it with groundwater as its manufacturer recommended on the product’s label. Dole attorney Rick McKnight, meanwhile, said that the pesticide was only applied once or twice a year. He said the chemical was diluted with water, sprayed at night for 15 minutes and then the plants were washed with 56,000 gallons of water for more than an hour afterward. Dole wanted the chemical on the roots, not the leaves, he said. Legal experts have said the case was significant because it raised the issue of whether multinational companies should be held accountable in the country where they are based or in the countries where they employ workers. The lawsuit could open the door for others to file similar claims in this country, where juries are known for awarding bigger judgments, experts said.160Want local news?Sign up for the Localist and stay informed Something went wrong. Jurors in the Los Angeles County Superior Court trial found that the two companies were a substantial factor in causing them harm. Members of the seven-man, five-woman jury awarded the other six plaintiffs nothing after ruling that the companies did not substantially harm them. The jury decided that Dole would be held responsible for the bulk of the payments. The case is the first of five lawsuits involving at least 5,000 agricultural workers from Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Honduras and Panama, who claim they were left sterile after being exposed to the pesticide. Other growers and manufacturers are named as defendants. Duane Miller, the workers’ attorney, had accused Dole of improperly applying the pesticide in amounts far exceeding guidelines. WESTLAKE VILLAGE – A jury awarded $3.3 million to six workers Monday who claimed they were left sterile by a pesticide used at a banana plantation in Nicaragua operated by Dole Fresh Fruit Co. The workers’ lawsuit accused Westlake Village-based Dole and Standard Fruit Co., now part of Dole, of negligence and fraudulent concealment while using the pesticide DBCP in the 1970s. The chemical was used to kill microscopic worms on the roots of the banana plants. The suit also alleged that Dow Chemical Co. and Amvac Chemical Corp., manufacturers of the pesticide, “actively suppressed information about DBCP’s reproductive toxicity,” according to the lawsuit. Amvac reached a $300,000 settlement in the case before the trial, according to spokeswoman Kelly Kozuma.

He added that this year’s event in the Mount Errigal, will be even better for businesses because, this time, the event will also be open to the public.“In the LEO Donegal we have always been diligent to respond to the needs of business in the county and taking on board the feedback we received from last year’s excellent showcase we have made some changes and improvements this year. One of the main changes is that – after a morning opportunity for businesses to network between 10am and 12 noon – the event will then be open to the public to giving businesses an opportunity to also trade on the day.”In addition, he explained that it will be free for businesses to attend, and there will not be an admission charge to the public who wish to attend either. “This really is a fantastic and free opportunity for businesses, not only to network with other businesses in the county, but also to trade and showcase their enterprise to the public who can come along on the day also for free.”However, Mr Tunney did stress that places at the event are strictly limited and insisted that with demand certain to exceed supply, businesses would need to register as a matter of urgency.“News of this event was just released by LEO recently and bookings for places immediately started to flood in.
