A new survey conducted by the personal finance website, Bankrate, rated the best and worst cities for first time homebuyers. In a ranking of 50 U.S, cities, San Diego was among the ten worst cities for new homebuyers, coming in at seven on the list. The cities that had even worse showings were San Francisco which topped the list, followed by Los Angeles and Sacramento.Lyle Caddell, who’s been selling homes in San Diego County for nearly 25 years said he doesn’t need to look at the survey to know there’s hardly anything out there for first time buyers. “The demand is so big in this price category. I don’t think I’ve ever been this bus, with people calling me saying ‘Hey, Lyle, do you have anything we can buy, a home?’ ”Caddell showed us a home listed for sale at 589,000 dollars, which he said was in the mid-level price range. The three bedroom home in Rancho San Diego already had seven offers in less than three days. “Can you only imagine what it’d be like for the entry level?” Caddell asked.Nathan Moeder, who heads a real estate and economic advisory firm said nothing will change unless there’s a way to reduce the government regulations that add to constructions costs and the time it takes to build new housing. “Unfortunately, I don’t think there’s going to be single family home opportunities like we’ve traditionally had in San Diego County because we’re not building it. 60 perecent of our growth historically was in single family homes. Going forward, it’s only going to be 18 percent,” Moeder said.According to the 2017 Census, the rate of home ownership in the San Diego area for 25 to 44 year olds was 33.6 percent.Behind Los Angeles, San Diego had the second lowest rate of home ownership in the nation. “We’re really turning into a region of “haves” and “have-nots” because the single family homes that exist today are just going to be more and more expensive, because we’re not building them anymore,” Moeder said. E3 2019 EA learned a lot from Anthem but doesnt apologize

Lead producer Ben Irving said Anthem’s future is “very bright.”  “We believe Anthem can be a very amazing game. We know we have some work today,” Irving said Saturday, though Anthem, published by EA, was originally missing from the E3 schedule. EA introduced new maps for Battlefield V, a new character for Apex Legends, a 15-minute gameplay demo reveal of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, FIFA 20’s Volta Mode and more.  Anthem, an online role-playing game for multiple participants, was announced at E3 2017 and launched by EA in February. Gamers play as Freelancers, who wear Iron Man-style exosuits and protect an unnamed planet. The Anthem of Creation is a mysterious force that creates powerful technology, wonders and threats. In the game’s main narrative, Freelancers must stop the evil Monitor from taking over Anthem. After the game’s release, EA CFO Blake Jorgensen said the company expected Anthem to sell 5 million to 6 million units by the end of March. That time frame gave Anthem only about a month and a half to achieve the numbers. The game beat out new releases like Jump Force, Far Cry New Dawn and Metro Exodus and became BioWare’s best selling title of the month for its first month. Amid the incoming reviews, the developers were combating bugs in the game. In early March, Anthem got a massive update that fixed problems with the loot quality, gameplay, bugs and more. The game’s developers were fixing bugs and crashes almost immediately after the February launch, though. When bugs weren’t crashing the game, they were making starter weapons ridiculously powerful. In April, Sony started issuing refunds to Anthem PS4 players who reported a bug that caused the console to improperly shut down. The game failed to meet EA’s expectations by May, even though the company said more money would come from microtransactions. EA didn’t say how many units Anthem had sold at the time, but the company said it remains “committed” to supporting the game’s ongoing live service.  The E3 video game conference in Los Angeles is expected to yield announcements from Electronic Arts, Xbox, Bethesda, Ubisoft, Square Enix and Nintendo. You can stream the conference online from a variety of platforms if you don’t plan on attending.  The big press conferencesMany of the biggest announcements happen before the show even opens, during a weekend of press conferences from the industry’s biggest names. All except Sony, which this year said it won’t be holding a press conference during the show, nor will it have a booth. The rest, however, will still be planning big announcements just before the show. Saturday, June 8Electronic Arts — The game maker showed off 15 minutes of gameplay for its upcoming adventure game, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. It also announced new features for its free-to-download Apex Legends last-man-standing battle royale game, offering a new character and weapon to play with. The company also showed off a new paid update for The Sims 4, called Island Living, that brings the series to a tropical beach. Finally, the company did discuss drama over the mixed reviews for its Anthem action adventure game, saying it “learned a lot” and had more updates and features planned soon.Sunday, June 9Microsoft / Xbox — The gaming giant’s biggest news was Project Scarlett, its next-generation Xbox, coming in 2020. The new device is up to 4x more powerful, the company said, and like the next-gen PlayStation it’ll include a fast non-mechanical SSD hard drive, and it’ll be powered by custom innards built with the help of chipmaker AMD.  The company also announced that Halo Infinite will launch alongside Project Scarlett next year. Meantime, Microsoft is starting public tests of its Project xCloud streaming service in October, promising people the ability to play high end games on their mobile devices while away from home. While fans wait, Microsoft announced an update to its Xbox Elite Controller Series 2 as well as a slew of new games. And action star Keanu Reeves, fresh off the success of John Wick Chapter 3: Parabellum, was on stage to announce his involvement with Cyberpunk 2077, which is coming next year.Bethesda — Bethesda kicked off its event with humility over the mixed response to Fallout 76, but quickly went back on the offensive. Fallout 76 got a new Battle Royale mode, Wolfenstein Youngblood received a new trailer and a co-op mode. We got a new game called Deathloop from the clever folks behind Dishonored and Bethesda introduced us to Orion, a piece of tech from ID Software designed to make game streaming better on services like Google Stadia. The lion’s share of attention, however, went to Doom Eternal, which looked fantastic in both single player and multiplayer.Monday, June 10PC Gaming Show — This annual PC Gaming Show is held at a theater a short walk from the Los Angeles Convention Center, but still draws a large crowd, filling the 1,700-person capacity Mayan Theater in downtown Los Angeles. Inside, the usual suspects, from Halo to Doom, were nowhere to be found. Instead, the crowd cheered for PC-centric games including Zombie Army 4, Baldur’s Gate 3 and Terraria: Journey’s End. (No, the game sequel problem isn’t any better on PCs.) The highlight was a brief on-stage appearance by legendary game designer Yu Suzuki, responsible for classic such as Hang-On and Virtua Fighter. His long-awaited Shenmue 3 is expected in November, 18 years after Shenmue 2. Ubisoft — The French gaming giant announced its next big dystopian hacking adventure game, Watch Dogs: Legion, launching March 2020. The new game is set in near-future post-Brexit London, where the economy is failing and government is breaking down. The company also announced a new television show, called Mythic Quest, that will launch on Apple TV Plus. And it celebrated the 10th anniversary of its Just Dance party games. Square Enix — 6 p.m. PT (9 p.m. ET)Tuesday, June 11Nintendo (livestream only) — 9 a.m. PT (noon ET)Originally published June 8, 11:36 a.m. PT. Eid alFitr 2019 date confirmed When is last day of Ramadan fasting

first_imgThe holy month of Ramadan is in its final few days this year before Muslims around the world wait for another long year to observe a month-long fasting. On Monday evening, UAE and many other countries declared Eid al-Fitr to be celebrated on Tuesday, June 4. But some countries will celebrate Eid the next day due to moon sighting in respective locations.India is one of the few countries that will observe Eid al-Fitr a day after Saudi Arabia and other countries in the west mark the end of Ramadan. Traditionally, Eid in India is celebrated a day after it Saudi Arabia, which means Eid al-Fitr 2019 will be celebrated in India on Wednesday, June 5.Traditions could change when a practical equation comes into play. Eid al-Fitr is the first day of the Islamic month of Shawwal. Like Ramadan begins with the sighting of the new moon, Eid al-Fitr will also be confirmed only when the crescent is sighted in India. Even though the moon was sighted in Saudi, UAE and many other countries, it is not necessary that the crescent will be seen in India on Tuesday evening to declare Eid on Wednesday, June 5. When is Eid 2019 in India?ReutersThere is an offset chance that Eid could fall on Thursday, June 6, in India if the moon isn’t sighted on Tuesday and the Hilal Committee declares Eid to be celebrated on Wednesday. Even though it is highly unlikely, it is still a possibility, which is why we recommend Muslims in India to wait for the Islamic committee to confirm the same or try looking for the moon in the evening. As per astronomical predictions, the crescent will be sighted in India on Tuesday evening, which would mean Eid al-Fitr will be celebrated on Wednesday. Unlike many Muslim countries, which declare multiple days official holidays on the occasion of Eid, Indians get one-day official holiday on Wednesday. You can expect government offices and banks to be closed on this day. PM Hasina fears country may turn dysfunctional if antiliberation forces return to

first_imgPrime minister Sheikh HasinaPrime minister Sheikh Hasina has said Bangladesh will become a failed state again if the anti-liberation forces return to power.”If the anti-liberation forces and patrons of killers return to power, the country will become a failed one again,” she said while addressing a reception here on Sunday.Canada Awami League arranged the event at Metro Toronto Convention Centre. The prime minister said today Bangladesh is marching forward and the trend of this progress should continue. “The country can’t be developed unless there is continuation of the government.”Talking about her party’s election manifesto, Sheikh Hasina said they did much more than what they wanted to do. “As Bangladesh is making progress, it now gets invitation to join the G7 Outreach Session.””When our country makes progress, we get such invitations,” she said adding that she also got invitations and joined G7 Outreach Session in 2001 and 2016.Hasina said her government is working aiming to ensure the development and welfare of the country’s people. She said her government has placed a Tk 4.64 trillion national budget for the 2018-19 fiscal, but once the budget size was only Tk 610 billion. In the proposed budget, the size of the annual development programme (ADP) is Tk 1.73 trillion, which was only Tk 190 billion. Some 90 per cent of ADP cost now comes from government funds, she added. In the past, the prices of essentials used to go up with the announcement of national budget. “But, now the prices remain under control as the present government has been able to bring down the inflation at 5.6 per cent.”Now, she mentioned, the per capita income in Bangladesh has increased to $1752.Coming down heavily on BNP, the prime minister said they do not see any development of Bangladesh, but they enjoy the benefits of the development.About BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia, she was convicted in the court after the trial process continued for 10 years. “But, big lawyers failed to prove that Khaleda didn’t embezzle orphans’ money.””A comfortable environment has been arranged for her in jail. I’ve no right to release Khaleda Zia from jail as it’s the jurisdiction of the court. Their (BNP’s) big lawyers should solve it moving to the court,” Hasina said.Foreign minister AH Mahmood Ali and AL joint general secretary Mahbubul Alam Hanif also addressed the reception event presided over by Canada Awami League president Golam Mohammad Mahmud Miah.last_img read more
